"Evolution is weird."

So I've been having crazy hormonal issues since..forever, really, but they've gotten really bad within the last year. I'm on birth control to try and give my ovaries a break, but I haven't really seen any sort of difference. I've also just started some meds to lower my testosterone, but I won't be able to tell if it's working for another few months. I've had my glucose and insulin tested, and they came up fine, but I do think that I have a difficult time processing really shitty foods. I'm almost positive that all of my issues have come from dietary bullshit. For the almost twenty-six years that I have been on this planet, my nutritional intake tallied up in years would probably equal between 2-4. I've never had a good diet. My mom made shit from cans. We drank fruit juices loaded with snacks. I'm also an emotional eater and had a really psychologically tough childhood, so I would turn to fruit snacks when I felt sad or happy. We had fruit in the house, but it was probably the most sugary and carbed-out fruit on the glycemic index. My mom also bottle fed me with some powdered soy shit when I was a baby, which is a known endocrine disruptor. I mean, she was twenty-three and apparently couldn't breast feed, so I guess she did the best that she could. I've always had very strange eating habits, and looking back believe that it was because I was starving for nutrition. I also have a thing about sitting in one place and eating, but since I've started eating Paleo, I haven't had that problem. I can now sit in one spot and finish a whole meal without feeling like it's too much and I need a physical break by running away from my plate. So what is Paleo? The Paleo "diet" consists of eating only things that our paleolithic ancestors would eat..which makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint. So things that are eliminated are carbs, sugar, grains, and some dairy. A lot of people modify the diet to fit their needs. like I am doing a practically zero-carb, zero-sugar, zero-grains version with some dairy thrown in, because my system handles it fine. In the month that I've been Paleo, I've only cheated a few times, but nothing huge. I feel great on Paleo and notice a difference in the way that I sleep and feel. I don't have as bad of a case of Winter blues as I did earlier, I'm optimistic and focused. My skin looks great, but that could be the meds that I'm on. I'm hoping to be completely med free in six months. Most of my meals include a lot of bacon fat, which is hilarious because I hate pork..but I do love crispy as fuck bacon. I eat steak almost nightly with asparagus, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. I also eat seafood. I'd eventually like to incorporate oysters and more exotic meats in my diet. I ordered a blender today so that I can my calorie bomb smoothies with coconut milk, blueberries and honey. You lose weight really fast on Paleo, so I've had to up my calories quite a bit, but it hasn't been bad. I do want to gain about ten pounds, and coconut milk has really good fats. one can is almost 800 calories. I think that a lot of people are afraid to try Paleo because they think that it is too restrictive, but it isn't. You can still cook it up with the best Top Chefs, you just have to omit all things empty and have no nutritional value. As I've said, Paleo has been awesome so far. It can get expensive, depending on what you buy and how much you eat. I'm 5'4 and 115 pounds, so I don't need much. Grass-fed steaks at Yes organic market are between $5-$8.
I am planning on sticking to Paleo for the rest of my natural life, unless I find that something else is working for my body better.
